Founder and Recording Engineer

Mikel has been recording and mixing records for over 45 years.

Growing up in an artist family he started his recording career from home. Soon musicians came from allover to record at his primitive set-up at the family house, with some big commercial success following quickly.

Teaching himself to record from the young age of 14 he started his work with independant artist and labels, soon to be followed by major labels and signed artists. Outgrowing the studio on his parents attick, it took him 2 years to build an impressive 260m² recording studio in a canal house in downtown Amsterdam. Here he continued his career and found himself in sessions with world stars ( Lady Gaga, Chick Corea ), American and European bands ( LFMAO, Party Animals, One Republic ) and local heroes. European hits were made here.

Needless to say, with over 45 years of experience Mikel handles any kind of music. Ranging from folk to punk, rock to dance, house, hiphop, jazz , modern classic, worldmusic and anything in between.

Long standing relationships with film composers like Heny Vrienten, Rob Hauser, Vincent van Warmerdam and Mischa Molthoff brought his work to the big screen and the international networks.

He further refined his skills by regularly mixing live events, TV shows, and streaming productions.

After the demise of the foundations of the canal house, Studio Le Roy moved and was rebuilt in 2025 and reborn as a first class, 650m² facility housing multiple recording and mixing rooms. This is where Mikel continues working to this day.
